Dravid and Reema set priorities in choosing their new home.
When considering your move, you may want to identify neighbourhood features that benefit you and the environment. Your Next
Move provides a helpful checklist to compare the advantages of various
neighbourhoods.
If you think you'll need more space, consider buying a larger home now
or one with the potential for renovation or an addition.

Consider compiling this list with the help of your real estate
representative or builder, who can help you decide which features are
important and suggest ones you have overlooked.
Read how Dravid and Reema chose a home to meet their needs.
Dravid and Reema started with the most practical of limitations - money.
They had a pre- approved loan of Rs. 7 lakhs, and their savings of about
Rs. 2.5 lakhs and went about getting the best of that.
“We do not want to
compromise on the size of the apartment,” they initially thought. However,
one day of house hunting left them with two choices.
The First Crossroad
The three apartments they found in the heart of the city, very close
to Reema’s office, and not too far away from Dravid’s was not as big as
they wanted their house to be.
“Let’s look for more options.” Reema had to finally understand after a
little more effort that they had two choices. One – Smaller in size - in
the heart of the city. The next option was an individual house about 10
kms away from the city.
Reema and Dravid were prepared with their checklists and wanted to take
a logical call on which home would be best for them.
Considering that both houses costed the same, this is what their checklist
looked like: For each, they gave points as per their judgements.
